Finely Carved Walnut Set of Six French Art Nouveau Dining Chairs

About
An incredibly rich and finely carved set of dining chairs, these are part of a matched dining room suite we recently acquired.
The set of chairs are executed in a dense solid walnut, the corners of each crest rail carved with a matching oak leaf surrounded by berries. The realism of the carvings is most noteworthy, the foliage not being simply a stylizing of naturalism but a near-photographic representation of life. An overall simplicity is captured in the form of the chairs, left unembellished and allowing the natural wood to convey beauty with a simple molding of the frame and legs and a gentle arch to the seat frame.
All six chairs retain early caning that must be redone.
Unsigned, but of exquisite quality, they are a fine acquisition for any passionate collector of the Art Nouveau period.
Measurements: 37 3/8“ H x 16 1/4“ D x 17 1/4“ W x 17 7/8“ H to seat.
