About the Item

Danish Folke Pålsson for FDB Møbelfabrik J77 chair. The design is based on the 1960s windsor chair but with a Danish design twist The simple construction and uncomplicated design of this beautiful chair really make it timeless, fitting in most decorating schemes, from rustic to the more modern. Danish designer Folke Pålsson was a part of the FDB design collective. FDB was founded after World War II with the aim to make affordable furniture for everyday use, closely following the infamous Bauhaus principle. Pålsson’s Windsor-inspired J77 dining chair is what he became most famous for. The chair has a wide seat in stunning proportion, and curved spindle back for optimal comfort, while the slightly conical legs create extra stability. modernist Danish dining chair Amazing stripped back design - elegant & functional Made of beechwood, The chair was not painted retrospectively and still radiates in its original matte black Recently reissued by Hay but these are the original 1960/70's versions Stamped under the seat & dated 1970 Condition: Good vintage condition - solid & sturdy w/ age related wear A few marks, scrapes & scratches (see pics) but all charming & character Normal very few signs of use in the paint job. Dimensions: 43 cm wide (34.5 backrest) 43.5 cm depth (37 seat depth) 78 cm high (44.5 cm seat height).
