This entryway bench, designed by Justin Nelson for Fernweh Woodworking, evolved out of the Oxbend dining chair, leading also to a matching bar stool. The Oxbend Collection was born from a desire to create seating that is comfortable, organic, and elegant in its simplicity. This Oxbend bench incorporates subtle hand-shaped tubular curves and classic wedged-tenon leg joinery and a beautiful finger-jointed back rail. Whether used as seating in an office space or as an entryway bench or bedroom settee it seeks to complement your existing furniture.
All of our furniture is completely original, and designed in-house by the founder of Fernweh Woodworking, Justin Nelson. Fernweh Woodworking launched its first furniture line item in 2017; The Tripod Table. It was the first exploration into the seamless joinery that is now signature in all new furniture items. Next came the award-winning Sling Chair. In early 2020 Justin designed and launched the Oxbend Collection. Fernweh Woodworking is growing into a small-batch furniture studio with the goal of remaining organic and handmade through the whole process.
Justin Nelson
He is a curious woodworker and designer, and he hopes to always feel that way; no matter how much you learn, you should always be overwhelmed and excited by the oceans of things yet to be discovered. He hopes to do my small part to keep the craft of woodworking not only alive, but fresh.
Every piece of furniture he craftes has been designed by him right here in our studio, handmade to order, and built with meticulous quality over a 12-week process with the goal of remaining organic and handmade.
He launched Fernweh Woodworking's first furniture line item in 2017, called The Tripod Table. It was the first exploration into the seamless joinery that is now signature in all new furniture items. Next came the award-winning Sling Chair. In early 2020 Justin designed the Oxbend Collection.
