About the Item
Set of four Africal Modernist chairs designed by John Tabraham for Kallenbach’s, a firm founded in the early 20th century by the noted architect Herman Kallenbach, who was also a close friend of Mahatma Gandhi. Made in South Africa, circa 1960s, these are fashioned in kiaat wood, a highly figured species with character similar to rosewood, with leather sling seats.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. All in fine vintage condition with minor overall signs of typical age appropriate wear. The leather slings have wonderful patina. Some minor chips to ends of chair legs from half a century of use but are strong and serviceable.
