About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this lovely original circa 1910 Edwardian restored hand dyed whiskey brown leather Gentleman's Club three piece suite to include a two-three seat sofa and pair of matching armchairs Please note the delivery fee listed is just a guide, for an accurate quote please send me your postcode and I’ll price it up for you This suite is as rare as they come, its period original and correct, the leather is the original hide everywhere apart from the cushions which are all brand new, they were custom made for the suite from premium English plain russet hide, they were then hand dyed to match the sofa, the cushion internals are goose and duck feather filled The base frame is naturally coil sprung with horse hair padding, the back is also coil sprung, the leather is fully aniline natural hide, what that means is its allot thicker, completely untreated, the most natural leather available, the hide shows the natural patina so already has a vintage feel to it, modern sofas and chairs use semi aniline leather which is smoothed out and pre-treated, it doesn’t have the same feel to fully aniline leather at all The condition is very well used and period correct, I have included detailed pictures below so you can see each piece from every angle, the leather upholstery is very old worn and distressed as you would expect being over 100 years old, it has scuffs scrapes and marks almost everywhere, some places worse than others, for the seating area, the arms and back panels the leather is sound and solid, on the back and side panels because of the age, the fact its stretched into place and the lack of contact, if you were to push it hard it would break, it is the nature of the suite based on the age, as mentioned the bits you use and make contact with have a lovely thick used surface so they are good and sound. The suite has been restored so the really rough areas have been stabilized, the whole suite has been hand condition waxed and polished and as mentioned the cushions are all new, there was some old wood worm in a couple of the feet which was old but has been treated again just to make sure, and as mentioned you have general marks everywhere.
