Danish Modern 1950s Highback Lounge Wing Chair With Wooden Wings
About the Item
This great elegant chair is in Denmark known as the "Jum Chair" based on a label it carries that also mentions patent 60296. The patent is believed to cover the set of springs on which the seat cover rests. While the Jum chairs are seen in the Danish auction market from time to time nobody has been able to verify the maker but it is widely believed to be an innovative design by Fritz Hansen as it has a number of design cues typical of Fritz Hansen. The chair is made from stained beech and is of ultra high quality. Sturdy, comfortable and yet very refined. We love the wooden wings. Overall very good condition with the wood in showing only minor wear and with the fabric wool fabric even in still usable condition. We do recommend to have the chair reupholstered, however, and we are able to offer re-upholstery services for this chair at a very competitive price.
