Disney Quest Aluminum Armillary Chairs by Jordan Mozer Set of 5

About the Item

Created for Chicago and Orlando's Disney Quest in 1995, the "Armillry Chair" is a stunning contribution to the world of the design. Crafted from the genius of Jordan Mozer, this solid aluminum chair looks like it jumped off the screen from a Ridley Scott film. Rarely do we see such a thoughtful blend of modern design and sinister sci-fi inspiration. The anthropomorphic spine-like back support, replete with vertebrae, has a generous curve that makes a bold statement about the spirit of the chair. Set of (5) chairs. Burgundy vinyl piping frames out the tan ochre mohair back cushions and also match the seats. We're not certain if the seat vinyl is the original, but we know that seats were in fact burgundy while in use for Disney. We sourced these chairs from a suburb in Illinois, so it's almost certain that they came from the Chicago exhibit, not Orlando.

Pair of restored Witco Conquistador tiki dramatic high-back chairs in original red fur. These chairs are absolutely wild in the best kind of way. The original red fur fabric has a thick pile. This bright red upholstery adds drama to the high-back, iron cladded, hand-carved chairs. These highly collectible and hard-to-find thrown chairs were born of the jet-set era. The 1960s was the golden age of air travel and Americans were absolutely fascinated with “Exotica.” Ephemera from exotic tropical lands around South Asia were all the rage and gave birth to an explosion of tiki motifs in popular American culture. We have four of these chairs available, two arm chairs and two side chairs. This listing is for just the two armless chairs. The two armchairs are sold separate. We also have the matching dining table, sold separate. We have other Witco items available including conquistador chairs in new leopard upholstery, Witco end table, and Witco cat...

  • Vintage Witco Tiki King Throne Hand-Carved Highback Chairs in Faux Leopard Fur
By Witco, William Westenhaver / Witco
    Located in Chattanooga, TN
Take a walk on the wild side, or maybe just have a seat there with scepter in hand. Each chair has been recovered in high-quality, cruelty free, faux-fur that very much resembles the look and feel of leopard fur. Adorned top to bottom with hand-carved intricate detail. These highly collectible and hard to find thrown chairs were born of the jet-set era. The 1960s was the golden age of air travel and Americans were absolutely fascinated with “Exotica.” Ephemera from exotic tropical lands around South Asia were all the rage and gave birth to an explosion of tiki motifs in popular American culture. This project was a complete tear-down and rebuild. Every section was unbolted and individually restored. This sinuous, dark cedar has been painstakingly detailed by our in-house restoration team to both preserve the patina and address any imperfections in the wood. Lightly recolored and clear-coated to accentuate and preserve the character. The seats and backs were professionally reupholstered, and the results speak for themselves. We're more than certain these will exceed expectations. Robert Post Junior and Artist William Westenhaver Created Witco in 1959. The two capitalized on the exotica trend by creating lavishly bold, roughly carved wood furniture and decor. The delightfully dramatic furniture was so beloved during the period that Elvis created an entire “Jungle Room” in his Graceland home featuring Witco furniture! Witco remains a mainstay among collectors today. You can even see original Witco pieces still in use at Graceland, and other iconic tiki venues like Polynesian Gardens, the Hawaiian Inn, and the Aku Tiki Inn all located in Florida. We have other Witco items available including a pair of these conquistador chairs with arms, Witco cat...
