About the Item

Mats Theselius for Källemo AB, easy chairs 'El Dorado no. 7 & 8 out of 360, brass, birch, leather, Sweden, 2002. This 'El Dorado' easy chair by Mats Theselius was designed in 2002 for the 11th anniversary of the earlier edition called the 'Elk Leather Chair'. It features a body of brass on four legs. The round form is finished on top with short birchwood armrests. Seat and backrest are made out of natural colored elk leather. Mats Theselius is known for his a-typical designs, most of them produced in limited editions. All for Källemo Sweden. This functional and aesthetic piece is another great example of his style and inventiveness with bold shapes and materials. In the back is an etched metal plate stating "El Dorado by Mats Theselius 2002 7/360 Källemo AB Sweden", and on the other chair '8/360', meaning that these chairs are an early edition in the volume of 360 produced pieces. Mats Theselius (1956) is a Swedish designer who studied interior design at Konstfack Stockholm. He is mostly responsible for exclusive and inventive Swedish furniture produced during the 90s. His work is a mix between art and design. Overall, his creations carry a real uniqueness. They are full of aesthetics, style and radiate extravagance. In 2011 Theselius became an associate of the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. For his work he received multiple awards such as the Bruno Mathsson Award and Torsten & Wanja Söderberg’s Design Prize in 1997, and the King of Sweden’s Prince Eugen Medal in 2018. To this day, Theselius is still active in creating furniture, lightning and other work of art. Please note that the price is per item, not per set.
