About the Item
There is a clear decorative feel to this lounge chair with indulgent shaping and a sophisticated, sartorial attitude. Not only the quality is apparent, but also the subtle influences of the Art Deco era.
Defined by the style themes of the 1940s, the design’s cosy, curved forms are complemented by the soft seat and backrest cushions. At the heart of the aesthetic is the early mid-century design culture centred around quality, a respect for and celebration of artisanal expertise. The charisma of this chair is underpinned by the stunning wooden frame. The flowing lines in the front are framed by straighter lines below the seat and in the back. The side parts are carved from a single piece of wood on each side which enhances the smoothly curving look. The Mid-Century Modern style is generally more simplistic in nature than Art Deco was, following the ethos of ‘form follows function’. As such this lounge chair makes use of clean lines and curves with clear signs of functionality: the wide seat and backrest visualize the word “lounge” and are highly cosy and welcoming. The legs, carved from the same piece of wood as the sides, have a simple shape and lift off the chair visually to make the design more airy.
To elevate the lounging experience even further, the large seat and back cushions are upholstered in light, textural cow hide. Being devoid of any embellishments, and focused on bringing out the qualities of the materials, this lounge chair could complement any interior.

In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. The chair has been reupholstered recently in cow hide. Each of our items can be re-upholstered by our in-house atelier in a fabric of choice. Please reach out for more information.
