Rare pair of 19th century Anglo-Indian lounge chairs Solid hand-carved ebony armchairs, curved back, long arms and raised on turned front legs. Caned back and original suede upholstered seats Ceylon, Galle District, circa 1840 A similar chair is illustrated in A. Jaffer, furniture from British Indian and Ceylon: A catalogue of the Collection in Victoria and Albert Museum and the Peabody Essex Museum, 2001, p. 378. Provenance available.
