About the Item

Capture the spirit of the 1970's with this fabulous pair of chairs attributed to Henning Kjærnulf. Crafted from quarter-sawn white oak, the frames feature slatted backs with subtle winged stiles and sculpted handrests that offer a pleasing tactile experience, a testament to the thoughtfulness of their design. The cushions are finished in traditional Scandinavian woven "Olmer" stripe fabric in rich tones of crimson and tan. Height provided refers to the taller chair; the shorter measures 31" tall. Henning Kjærnulf is among the exalted few designers to possess a voice so singular and a body of work so prolific as to be credited with the invention of an entire design style. Kjærnulf's iconic "Danish Brutalist" furniture playfully combines elements from earlier design movements - including the Arts & Crafts, Rococo, and Jacobean styles - with Modern sculpted details and a Scandinavian palette of natural blonde woods to create a look that is both entirely unique and instantly recognizable.
