Pair of French Slopeback Light Caramel Leather Club Chairs c.1930-1940
About the Item
ABOUT
Original French slopeback club chairs in light caramel leather with black piping throughout and burnished rivets in the back. Carved square wooden feet and rolled arms. All original sheep hide leather throughout expect the back panel on one chair. Replaced and color matched with antique sheep hide. The seats have been reconditioned with refilled cushions. Original French hand written note on the side of one cushion.
Both chairs have retained their original finish with minor blemishes on the leather. Very comfortable.
CREATOR Unknown. Made in France.
DATE OF MANUFACTURE c.1930-1940.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES Sheep Hide Leather. Wood, Metal.
CONDITION Good. Wear consistent with age and use. Blemishes on the bottom front panels, corners and tops depicted in photos. Left Chair in photo: semi circle 3 inch crack in the leather on the back panel. Not broken through but stable.
DIMENSIONS H 34 in. W 31 in. D 36 in. Seat Height 16 in.
HISTORY
The chairs were found in Paris, France and reconditioned in Northern California.
