Shigeru Uchida 'Z' Chair Mid Century Takeshi Nii

About the Item

A specimen. This is not the NY chair. Indoor camp sensibilities for the modern age. Something of a mid century myth. Completely foldable and with removable headrest. Built tough in canvas, polished chrome and teak. The first models were designed around 1958, taking inspiration from directors chairs - which, is safe to say it predates any of those outdoor foldable joints you’ve been packing to the beach on your camps. Shigeru had a strong affinity for the outdoors and the functionality of this chair no doubt influenced its design. It is worn undoubtedly, as you can see in the photos - personally I think this validates the character and purpose to be lived in.
