Single Kappa Slipper Lounge Chair in Bouclé, France 1970's

About the Item

Elegant armless lounge chair comprised of metal and upholstery, produced by the French manufacturer Kappa, circa 1970s France. Fully restored and upholstered in a crème bouclé. Satin finished metal frames. These forms are exceedingly ergonomic for a range of uses, whether a perch for cocktail lounging or a chair to hang in for extended work calls that require focused attention. When not in use, the Kappa's bold lines and sculptural volumes hold a room.

    Rare pair of K1 lounge chairs for Alpha Industries. Maurice Calka is well known for his outlandish fiberglass boomerang desks, but this pair of chairs is a perfect example of his creativity. The shell is formed aluminum resting on a chrome-plated solid steel base that was directly inspired by the steering wheel of another french icon, the Citroen DS. All original finish and upholstery. Alpha Industries produced approximately 50 chairs.
