A late 18th century, George III period Chippendale Cuban mahogany armchair, the shaped crest rail with carved 'c' scroll ends above the wide, carved, pierced splat and bold out scrolling arms. The padded upholstered seat raised on moulded Marlborough legs ending on bun feet united by traditional 'H' stretchers. A truly fine Wood & Hogan English George I style Walnut open armchair which can be produced only by a master chairmaker. Note the beautifully shaped deep scoop shepherd crook arms and the hand carved cabriole legs. The finish is equal to that of a prized antique.

This finely carved chair made from costly imported mahogany exhibits many special details including a molded arch back with a pierced baluster shaped splat, shaped arms and graceful cabriole legs headed by atheneum and leaf-shaped carving. All the carving is very fine and the color is its original faded color which is so lovely and special. The chairs generous proportions make it comfortable and easy to use.
