Embroidered velvet ottoman in a variety of textiles by award-winning artist
About the Item
The 'Peacock and Squirrel Ottoman' by award-winning, British embroidery artist and designer, Jacky Puzey. This piece is lavishly upholstered with embroidered velvet and appliqué work of silk organza, faux fur and peacock feathers. It is constructed on a wooden frame with brass wheels and comes with a similarly maximalist bolster cushion. As each piece within the edition is made to commission, uniquely bespoke touches are possible (although these may impact the list price quoted).
Jacky Puzey creates statement furniture akin to richly textured artworks, combining a material palette of velvet, silk, faux fur, feathers, tweed, silk and organza with digital and hand embroidery. The animal kingdom is a constant source of inspiration, with designs that include ravens, hares, squirrels, koi carp, parakeets and peacocks. Her work may reference seventeenth-century allegorical still life paintings and eighteenth-century chinoiserie, but she also encompasses urban themes, such as London’s parakeets and the leopards that roam free in Mumbai’s suburbs. Puzey's work has been commissioned for HBO ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘House of the Dragon’, as well as leading interior design studios, iconic hotels and private collectors worldwide.

- Pair of contemporary floral plaster panels in Baroque style by a Master artistBy Geoffrey Preston MBELocated in London, GBPair of decorative 'Flower Garden' panels in plaster by British Master craftsman Geoffrey Preston MBE. The designs for these spring from a series of drawings in one of the artist's sketchbooks. The decoration was modelled in clay onto a clay base, using fingers, thumbs and small boxwood tools. The clay base enabled Preston to draw into the background, as well as build up from it, which gives a greater depth and emphasis to the modelling. A silicon mould was made from the completed models, and from this plaster casts can be taken. He uses Herculite No 2 plaster with burlap (hessian) and timber lathes to reinforce. Each pair is cast to order and signed and numbered on the reverse. The 'Flower Garden' panels are original works. Preston's aim is to use the fluid character of clay to make poetry in light and shadow in plaster. There is a strong influence of flowers and plant forms in his work, often in the context of architectural elements. He is conscious of proportion and the language of gesture, which is demonstrated in the flowing nature and harmony evident in his work. Geoffrey Preston MBE is a Master of traditional plaster-relief techniques who draws on eighteenth-century decorative art and sculpture, but combines it with his contemporary eye for design. He cites Giacomo Serpotta of Sicily and Egid Qurin Asam of Bavaria as two of the greatest influences on his work, both of whom stretched the boundaries of what people thought possible to sculpt in plaster during the Late Baroque period. In addition, he admires painter Rex Whistler and wood engravers, Charles Tunnicliffe and Joan Hassall...Category

- Tabletop sculpture in brushed brass inspired by proportions of the Golden RatioBy Thomas Joynes (British)Located in London, GB'Aurora' by British sculptor Thomas Joynes is based on the Golden Ratio, with perfectly proportioned flowing curves. The original concept was developed as part of a commission for The Crown Estate in London, where it was displayed in a foyer with a tall, narrow window to the street. This version has been made from brushed brass and set on a granite plinth (25x25x5cm). Thomas Joynes first discovered his love of making as a boy when he explored the woodlands of rural Essex in England, using his hands to craft bows and arrows - and tree houses. During his Foundation course, he was drawn to working with Plaster of Paris – casting, moulding and carving large solid blocks of it. His work is clearly influenced by 20th -century masters, such as Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Constantin Brancusi, Jean Arp and Naum Gabo, but to these he brings his own sense of movement and dynamism. Major projects include public art commissions, such as a three-metre high bronze sculpture for a Metro station in Hong Kong. Functional sculpture projects include a set of bespoke gates and a three-metre wide, wall-hung, contemporary sundial. Most usually his work is commissioned for outside locations, such as gardens, courtyards and landscapes but increasingly he has turned his attention towards work that sits happily within an interiors scheme, using finishes such as polished bronze and 24ct gold gilding.
