Having a classic French Country ladder back design, this Provençal bench is painted a beautiful bluish green color and features traditional floral and foliate carved motifs on the crest rail, apron, and stretcher. The hand woven rush seat is raised on six legs with the front three having a graceful cabriole shape and foliate carved motifs at the knees and feet. This impressive antique French secretary features a chapeau de gendarme crown above a pair of carved serpentine doors with brass mesh grilles and beautiful green and gold damask fabric backings that open to reveal a painted interior with two display shelves.
