French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Giltwood Chaise Lounge Settee
About the Item
An exceptional and most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. Giltwood chaise lounge settee. The oval shaped chaise is raised by six elegant tapered fluted legs with top carvings of acanthus leaves. The straight apron is decorated with carved bands of spiraling ribbons which are separated by finely detailed blocks of recessed rosette carvings. The upholstered curved back is designed with 'S' scrolled arm supports with foliate carvings that continue to each arm and up to the back. The back has a wonderful central reserve of carved bow and flowing ribbons.
