French Art Deco Sofa in Parcel Gilt Wood

About the Item

A fine quality parcel gilt double shield back sofa, with two toned gilding the turned and fluted legs are gold leaf and the frame is white gold, this has 70% of original gilding and we have had it carefully matched in keeping the patina to the gold. The suite has been fully upholstered and covered in stain resistant fabric Age: 1925 Style: Art Deco Material: Gilt wood Origin : France Condition: excellent Dimensions: 87H x 110W x 70D cm.

    LOUIS SUE AND ANDRE MARE This rare Art Deco large oval mirror made by Sue and Mare (Louis Sue, 1875-1968, and Andre Mare, 1887-1932) has a frame of hand-carved gilt wood. The upper section has a floral carving with silver gilding that extends to golden vases on the sides, with another floral carving on the bottom section. The original bevelled glass is still intact with minor foxing. Many of their designs consisted of sumptuous materials, fine craftsmanship, and freshly cut motifs. They made their creations in the limited, exclusive range of small editions or even pieces made for the wealthy people.
