Pair of French Louis XVI Painted Parcel Gilt Petite Antique Chairs

About the Item

An elegant pair of petite French Belle Époque period (1871-1914) Louis XVI style parcel gilt painted chairs. Hand-crafted in France in the late 19th / early 20th century, executed in luxurious Louis 15th style, featuring a solid wood frame carved in bead and ribbon twist motif, having arched crest rail, flanked by square stiles, buttoned splat and seat, tufted upholstery fixed with woven trim, atop original cane panel, rounded serpentine seat with stepped molded edge, adorned with giltwood rosette carvings and ribbon twist running ornamentation, rising on straight tapered fluted legs. Beautiful aged distressed chippy paint patina. circa 1900 *Please note, at the time of writing this, we have a similarly styled Louis XVI style painted wood caned bidet stool / side table (shown in two photos) available Dimensions: (approx) 36" Tall, 16.5" Wide, 15.5" Deep; Seat height: 18" Having the ideal small scale and petite proportions for a variety of different uses, including as dining side chairs, hall chairs, intimate tête-à-tête style conversation chairs, refined kids chair, ladies dressing room vanity or boudoir chairs and more. Condition: Good antique condition with nicely aged patina. Strong, sturdy, stable, structurally sound. Presents well, retaining original antique character marks and charm throughout, all wear consistent with age and indicative of use, including scattered nicks and chippy paint losses.
