Rustic French Wooden Chair
About the Item
This antique wooden chair was crafted in 19th Century France. A beautifully preserved wooden side chair with a refinished surface, featuring splayed tapered legs, a square seat and a carved backrest. Similar to the German ‘Brettstuhl’, in Italian, ‘sgabello’, and the French ‘escabelle’ these simple plank chairs are known throughout Europe, associated with the mountains or rustic locales. A charming folk creation, the shapes are simple and elegant, assembled with truly time-tested techniques. Completed by a one of a kind patina, this petite chair instills a romantic charm.
