Set of Four French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Mahogany and Giltwood Side Chairs
About the Item
An extremely elegant set of four French 19th century Louis XVI st. mahogany and giltwood side chairs. Each chair is raised by slender circular tapered fluted legs with a finely carved and most decorative giltwood rosette above each leg. A richly carved giltwood band with a twisted rope design extends along the front and side and back framing the unique and most attractive violin shaped seat. The graceful upholstered back supports display beautiful architectural circular fluted columns to each side with lovely small giltwood rosettes, the same twisted rope bands, and elegant top foliate finials. Possibly by Krieger.
