About the Item
African Chairs contemporized, different seat made of plywood, painted and multi lacquered.
The things that we surround ourselves with, are representatives of our being: an expression of our taste. They show what we like, what we respect, what we like to have around us and what they mean to us. Through their presence, we take a stance. These pieces of furniture are the starting point of my work.
The often factory-produced functional objects are liberated from their original meaning and condition and undergo a transformation, becoming art-object with a singular intrinsic value.
I work with carefully curated chairs, different types of furniture and objects that were possibly left unnoticed, unappreciated and then I lift them out of their mundane existence; I try to free them from disregard and careless handling and that general state of being overlooked. This is the intention of my art-interventions.
