About the Item

François Monnet for Kappa, lounge chair with ottoman, stainless steel and leather, France, circa 1970. Modern lounge set by the French designer François Monnet, consisting of an easy chair and a stool. Monnet worked on incorporating steel into his designs, this set was one of his outcomes. The pieces have a very strong expression, by the brushed steel bases, which is in strong contrast with the aged eggshell leather seats. Build up in several cushions, the seat has a more bulky structure. In the late 1960s, French steel manufacturer Uginox asked five designers, among other Monnet, to make a collection of furniture with stainless steel as key element. They all succeeded to create excellent furniture with this rather new material for the furniture industry, and this lounge set is a follow up of Monnet's succes as a Modern designer. Please note that the leather is aged and shows cracks and even fading all over. Therefore, reupholstery is necessary, which can be taken care of by our in-house atelier. The professional and experienced craftsmen in our in-house atelier are specialists in the reupholstery of design furniture. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value. This has a lead-time of 7 to 8 weeks next to the standard handling time.
