18th Century Swedish Rococo Sofa

About the Item

A Swedish Rococo sofa from Lindome. The raised sofa back crowns and undulating s-shaped front edges are exquisitely hand-carved in the form of shells and acanthus leaves. Notches line the contours of the baluster-shaped back trays and spines. Outward bending arms with hand-turned ends frame the sofa. The cabriole legs are detailed in more acanthus leaves and anchored by claw and ball feet (with extensions) and supported with h-cross construction. Original slip seat reupholstered in linen. Tastefully repainted in light grey.
