Arca Brazilian Contemporary Wood and Synthetic Fiber Outdoor Sofa by Lattoog

About the Item

Arca sofa is an outdoor furniture. In this project of sofa and armchair, we established a dialogue between curves / straight lines and rigid/soft materials in which the striking feature that stands out is the curve on the wooden base. At some point of the project conception, the arched design of this curve referred us to the famous Ark of Noah and inspired the name of this piece.

  • Arraia Brazilian Contemporary Wood and Fabric Chair by Lattoog
    By Lattoog
    Located in Sao Paolo, BR
The Arraia armchair design once again links the shapes of nature to the traits of Lattoog designers. Here, marine life, with its vast “library” of ever-flowing and sinuous forms, lent its curves to encourage formal speculations about the possibilities of folding wood. A certain idea of ??melting or organicity was brought precisely to break the rigidity of the wood of the arms and backrest, which are gently supported on the base structure. The final result of this piece reminds us of a stingray in motion – light...

  • Brazilian Wood Three-Seater Sofa by Rino Levi, Brazil 1950s
    By Rino Levi
    Located in Utrecht, NL
Rino Levi was one of the pioneers of the modern movement in Brazil, advocating for simple, practical and economical design, disparaging the imitation of classicism. ‘Classical spirit’ rather than classical forms was his ideal. Levi was instrumental in spreading the fame of Brazilian modernism through his furniture designs as well. As this beautiful Brazilian wood sofa shows, by the 1960s, Levi abandoned Italian rationalism in favour of an approach closer to that of the Rio modernists both in his architectural and furniture designs. As a piece of true Brazilian mid-century design, the beauty of the wood and organic shapes and lines dominate this three-seater sofa. The tilted, architectural lines of wood making up the armrests create a visually distinct and exciting appearance. The additional horizontal lines connecting to the backrest are a creative addition, while also supporting the overall stability. The frame with its joinery praises Rino Levi’s craftsmanship and architectural expertise. The beautiful colour of the wood is highlighted by the light upholstery of the body in a premium bouclé fabric, including the three removable cushions. This sofa model is rare to find, for as during Brazil's military dictatorship, it was against the law to export furniture. The ban on exports only ended in the 1980s, but it still took some time for things to change, not to mention that handmade pieces were created in limited editions. Therefore, it is no exaggeration to say that this sofa is special, and a real rarity. Condition: In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. Some scratches and marks on the wood. The sofa has been reupholstered recently in a premium bouclé fabric. Each of our items can be re-upholstered by our in-house atelier in a fabric of choice. Please reach out for more information. Dimensions: 86.41 in W x 28.74 in D x 30.31 in H; Seat height 16.14 in 219.5 cm W x 73 cm D x 77 cm H; Seat height 41 cm About the Designer: Rino Levi was a Brazilian architect important to the development of modernism in Brazil. Levi was born to Italian Jewish parents on December 31, 1901 in São Paulo, Brazil. After graduating from Colégio Dante Alighieri in São Paulo, Levi studied in Milan and Rome under Marcello Piacentini. In 1924, he moved to the School of Architecture of Rome. There, he met Adalberto...

    By Fango
    Located in Barcelona, ES
Manufactured by Fango. Colombia, 2023 Yaré fiber and metal structure. Measurements 210 x 85 x 95h cm 82,7 x 33,5 x 37,4h in Provenance Fango Studio, Medellín, Colombia. Exhibitions Casavells 2023. Concept The Ibuju collection projects the synergy of designing and storytelling, an essential intention of Fango’s creative director, Francisco Jaramillo. The series stems from concern over the indiscriminate logging and overuse of the native woods from the endangered green lung of planet earth, the Amazon, a jungle increasingly fading from the world. Looking for alternatives to build functional furniture in native materials, Jaramillo and the weavers of Fango discovered the renewable Yaré fiber. Yaré is a fiber commonly called “vine", a root that grows around the trunks of trees in the Colombian Amazon. These fibers are used by local indigenous communities in southern Colombia for handcrafted weaving, which inspired Jaramillo to translate the native aesthetics and geometries of primitive wooden...

This research has led us to use stainless steel alloy with a minimum of 10.5% chromium content by mass. Stainless steels contain sufficient chromium to undergo passivation, spontaneously forming a microscopically thin inert surface film of chromium oxide. This passive film prevents further corrosion. This alloy contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel. The stainless steel alloys 304 are a part of the austenitic stainless steels. Its excellent properties make them ideal for outdoor use: - Resistance to corrosion. - Prevents products’ pollution. - Resistance to oxidation. - Excellent formability. - Easy to clean. - High resistance and low weight. - Good resistance and stability at cryogenic temperatures. Sunbrella Upholstery fabrics are as versatile indoors as out due to the following properties: - Colored all the way to the core so its original vibrancy lasts on and on. - Repels liquids and dirty. - Easy to clean, even using bleach. - Smooth, warm and comfortable. - No loss of color. - Machine wash in cold water on the delicate cycle with normal amounts of mild laundry detergent...
