This beautiful walnut sofa was designed by Mario Marenco for Mobil Girgi in Italy during the 1970s. It features angled front legs that extend to the sides and back, with a slightly curved back support. The wood's rich grain complements the original textured cotton Italian fabric, showcasing the modern and organic style of 1970s Italy. The sofa is generously proportioned and in excellent vintage condition, with only a minor patina on the wood. However, the fabric shows signs of wear and use, so we recommend reupholstering it before use. This lounge sofa is both comfortable and stylish, and it would be a striking addition to any interior, including living rooms, family rooms, screening rooms, or offices. It also fits perfectly in hospitality or corporate locations such as boutique hotel lobbies, cocktail bars, members' clubs, or luxury boutiques. The sofa was designed by Mario Marenco, an Italian architect, designer, and entertainer born in Italy in 1933. He graduated in architecture in 1957 and later opened his design studio, DEGW, in Rome, where he designed community buildings. Marenco collaborated with some of the most prestigious Italian furniture and lighting companies, such as Artemide, Arflex, Bernini and B&B Italia, Mobil Girgi, and Poltrona Frau. His collaboration spanned from furniture to the car industry, designing display stands for Fiat and Alfa Romeo.
