Mid-century Bauhaus tubular sofa
About the Item
This Bauhaus sofa is a unique example of modern design - when simplicity and raw materials create a beautiful piece of furniture.
The sofa is estimated to have been
manufactured in the period around the 1950s, and is therefore described as original Bauhaus. The tubular frame has welded joints and the seat is built from solid wooden boxes. A handcraft that you don't see anymore.
The sofa has been in a home in Copenhagen and is allegedly made in Germany, in the style of the famous Kem Weber.
The condition is good and the seating comfort is superb. The chrome frame has only a few flaking and the leather has no cracks.
The sofa has been reupholstered later with black leather (perhaps around the 70s), and is newly polished.
