Philo Three Seater Sofa in Extra Upholstery and Matt Black Frame by Marco Zito

About the Item

Philo is a prefix of Greek origins that indicates love, propensity and empathy towards people and things. A metallic thread draws together a welcoming silhouette; it runs, turns, comes up and goes down, hugging and delicately supporting the upholstered surfaces. The agile dimensions give life to a seating system capable of existing in different spaces: home, offices and in places of meeting in general – of welcome and for relationship building. Philanthropic by nature this elegant and simple sofa has a lean yet grounded honest form. The design’s character is communicated with an interplay of lines and colours. The metallic thread transforms into sewing thread and continues on to weft and warp creating a singular harmony. Marco Zito 16.2.1966 architect, graduated under Vittorio Gregotti at the IUAV in 1994. • De Sede DS-21 Three-Seat Sofa in Black Upholstery by Stephan Hürlemann
    By Stephan Hürlemann, De Sede
    Located in Brooklyn, NY
Opulent elements for modular use. The architectural structure of DS-21 is created by a metal frame that surrounds individual cushion volumes, seemingly carrying them effortlessly. The opulent elements counteract the clear lines of the frame. They function as modules that can be relocated. DS-21 comes in different upholstery combinations, with leather or fabric covers, and in three different frame widths with matt black or high-gloss chrome-plated metal legs. An armchair rounds out this family of seats. The DS-21 range is complemented by coffee tables and side tables with glass tops in different versions. This sculpture looks as if it has always stood there. A statement, essentially: I’ve been here forever. And yet: the proportions seem fresh and new, unused and inviting, classic and modern. DS-21 is the work of Stephan Hürlemann. The Appenzell native studied architecture at ETH Zurich and was the partner of designer Hannes Wettstein, after whose death in 2008 he took over as creative director of the world-renowned Zurich studio. Hürlemann remains true to the classic style. With the seating landscape for De Sede, he has created a floating sculpture that flirts with the lightness of being...
