Stickley Furniture, Chippendale / Rococo Style upholstered camelback sofa by Stickley Furniture; Part of the Williamsburg Reserve Collection. Sofa is upholstered in a beautiful toile fabric. Mahogany wood cabriole legs with ball and claw feet. Includes 1 accent pillow in matching fabric. Please note: we have a matching settee. We will offer an additional discount is both settees are purchased. Both settees are barely used. One settee still has the Stickley tase on it (see photo). Dimensions H 35 x W 88 x D 33 inches Seat Height: 19" Seat Depth: 21" Leg Height: 11" More Information High end down filled sofa made by stickley for the colonial williamsburg collection. This reproduction has elegant proportions and french-inspired lines. Rococo carved scrolls and acanthus leaves combine with serpentine curves, cabriole legs and ball and claw feet derived from an original design of a dragon clutching a pearl. Tradition suggests that the original english serpentine sofa may have been in the house of john prince of Newburyport, Massachusetts, when Washington and Lafayette were guests there. The antique sofa was featured in the girl scouts loan exhibition sponsored by the American art galleries, NY in 1929. This was a milestone event because it was the first extensive public display of early American decorative arts. The pieces exhibited were selected by many of the most prominent curators of the day and their selections influenced scholars and interior designers for years to come.

Wear consistent with age and use. Excellent used condition. Very good condition. Both settees are barely used. One settee still has the new Stickley tag on it (see photo). Wood on legs has nicks and scratches which will be touched up prior to shipping.
