Chinese Floral Melon Shape Limestone Drum, c. 1900
About the Item
This drum form was hand carved from a solid piece of limestone in China’s Shanxi Province. Its melon shape is an ancient Chinese symbol of fertility and is incised with flowers and leaves. We love it juxtaposed as a table with a mid-century seat, or as a stool in a grove of trees as the ultimate place to ponder.
