Egyptian Revival Ebony Thebes Stool, English 19th Century
19th century English Thebes stool with ebonized lacquer finish, the solid seat supported by four turned legs united by stretchers. A fine example of the form, unusual in it's rich black surface. The original Egyptian Thebes stool dates back to the time of the Pharaohs. The design was revived and patented by Liberty of London in 1884.
