William's first functional sculpture, 'glove box' when shown in a Los Angeles gallery was quickly purchased by producer Joel Silver ( Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, The Matrix ) and installed in his South Carolina home, Auldbrass, the Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece. The 'hal' table followed in 2000 and singularly ignited the faceted craze. William was selected to represent Surface magazine at the Salon del Mobile 2004 in Milan. When asked to compare European designers to American by Metropolis magazine in 2006, Cooper - Hewitt National Design Museum curator Ellen Lupton observed that, as American design was more pragmatic and the Europeans more conceptual, William Earle broke the mold by being a minimalist.
