Pair of Vintage Studio Craft Windsor-Style Three Legged Low Stools in Cherrywood

About the Item

Pair of cherry wood studio craft low stools executed in a Windsor-Style (ca. 1970s, USA). Designed by a woodworker out of Syracuse, New York "WHP" about whom little is known. Composed of three bamboo-style legs fitted with 't form' stretchers and seats whose surfaces slope down at the front conforming to the body's curves, while still aiding in good posture by tilting the pelvis forward, allowing the spine to sit properly aligned. Using typical modern Windsor Chair joinery, the tops of the legs are tapered and fit onto similarly tapered holes cut into the seat using no screws or nails in the construction. One nick to one of the stools along with one scuff (both subtle but shown in the last two images). Overall, very fine condition. Due to the hand-made nature of these stools, there is a slight dimensional disparity between the two: Stool One - H: 22.63" x L: 16.25" (leg to leg) x D: 18.75" (leg to leg) x Seat Height: 20.5" (front edge) Stool Two - H: 22.75" x L: 16" (leg to leg) x D: 22" (leg to leg) x Seat Height: 21.5" (front edge) Seat specs are the same for both: Seat Length: 15" Seat Depth 12"

This striking pair of stools was designed by Sven Ellekaer and produced by Christian Linneberg Møbelfabrik in Denmark, 1962.
