About the Item
The Richard Watson fawn stools are inspired by the form of an antique milk stool. The stools come in 4 sizes - step, table, counter, and bar.
The fawn stools began with the design of our step stool to be paired with our Highboy cabinet. Traditionally the topmost drawers of the cabinet could only be reached with a bed step, which was a common piece used with the high beds of that era. This bit of history influenced the design of our step stool, which was ultimately studied to translate to table, counter and bar heights. The form of the stool was inspired by an antique milk stool, drawing inspiration from the shape of bone to form the leg.
Each Richard Watson piece is made in Pawtucket, RI by a team of men and women who are passionate about their craft. The pieces are constructed using select domestic hardwoods and traditional joinery and hand finished with natural oils, lacquers and wax.
Available in walnut, white oak, and bleached ash.

Richard Watson
Brooke Richard and Laura Watson founded Richard Watson, a small design studio in Brookline, MA dedicated to fine craftsmanship in wood and metal. Richard Watson’s design principles are defined by warmth, authenticity, and a balance of strength and delicacy. Their work is created with meticulous attention to detail, with each board hand selected in order to highlight the beautiful character and grain patterns found in their hardwoods. The feel and experience of each piece is also carefully considered - the smooth glide of a drawer, the relation to others around a table, the way the back of a pull feels. Each Piece is made in Pawtucket, RI by a team of men and women who are passionate about their craft. A strong connection and proximity to their workshop allow design and construction to continually inform each other. The pieces are constructed using select domestic hardwoods and traditional joinery and hand finished with natural oils, lacquers and wax. Their solid bronze hardware is cast locally and finished in their studio in Brookline, MA. The soul of each Richard Watson piece is in these handcrafted details.
