Exquisite Restored Thomas Chippendale Claw & Ball Brown Leather Swivel Armchair

We are delighted to offer for sale this absolutely exquisite fully restored Thomas Chippendale style circa 1860 hand carved Victorian swivel armchair with oversized claw and ball feet and new hand dyed brown leather base This chair is a real winner. It’s the only one of its type I have ever seen, the carving is from head-to-toe sublime and it looks like art furniture from every angle! The piece has been fully restored to include, a new luxury plain hessian leather seat base has been fitted, during the process the coil sprung horse hair padded seat was serviced and secured, the leather was then hand dyed six times to achieve this glorious rich cigar brown colour. There have been some light timber repairs to the top back rail where the edges had become chipped, these have been fully restored and the whole timber frame has been washed back and the traditionally French polished from the ground up This is without doubt the finest quality and dare I say it best looking captain’s chair I have ever owned, it is a rare find of museum quality and condition Dimensions: Height 90cm seat height 53cm Width 67cm Depth 64cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
