Fine Antique circa 1860 Chesterfield Cigar Brown Leather Swivel Captains Chair
About the Item
We are delighted to offer for sale this rare circa 1860 Barrell back Chesterfield hand dyed brown leather office chair.
This chair is really quite exquisite, it’s one of the earliest types of swivel chairs I have ever seen, the frame is solid oak, the leather lovely thick English hide, the base swivels and it has solid brass castors.
The chair was fully restored a few years ago to include having the leather washed back, it’s then been hand dyed six times, antiqued and sealed, the oak frame has been stripped back and French polished from the ground up. Recently we have deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished it, there will be normal age and use related patina as you would expect

Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
