Betty Cobonpue Sculptural Split Reed Storage Chest, 1980s
About the Item
Offered is a lovely sculptural split reed storage chest/trunk designed by Betty Cobonpue for her "Scultura" line produced in the 1980s.
Cobonpues' design philosophy was simple: no hard edges. This is represented in the graceful curves and incredible craftsmanship of this particular piece. Made from formed split reed over a solid wood core/frame. The interior is a wonderful mahogany that adds a lot of warmth to the piece.
