Early 19th Century hand decorated Swedish pine coffer

About the Item

Early 19th century hand decorated swedish pine coffer circa 1805. Real piece of rural swedish woodwork from the early 19th century. Pine rectangular box, which has been stained a dark brown, complete with original metal strap work and hinges, working lock and key.  Hand painted and initialed to the front g.J.D possibly the j could be an f, and dated 1805. Flat top lid which lends itself well to being used as a coffee table, which opens to reveal a beautifully painted vase and flowers to the underside of the lid.  Complete with fitted interior candle box. Raised on 4 bun feet. Expected surface marks to woodwork, minor evidence of dead inactive treated worm, later replaced moulding to bottom edge.
