19th Century French Empire Period Walnut Bookcase or Vitrine, Bronze, 15-in deep
About the Item
This early nineteenth century Empire period walnut bookcase features half columns that flank its glass doors. The columns are capped in bronze detailed with diamond and a Vitruvian scroll pattern. The base of the columns are additionally detailed in bronze with a spiral beading motif. The two doors open using its single key to allow access to its interior fitted with three adjustable shelves. The doors are fitted with bronze escutcheons depicting cornucopia. With a simple yet sophisticated look, this piece stands ready to grace any interior. The cabinet measures 51 inches wide by 15.5 inches deep. c. 1810.
