About the Item
A magnificent 19th century Gothic Revival hand carved painted parcel gilt bibliothèque (bookcase - buffet - china cabinet).
Born in France, circa 1840, most impressive size, two-piece, high quality solid wood construction, ornate Neo-Gothic architectural taste.
The upper section having a molded cornice with floral carvings, over pair of pointed ogival arch framed cabinet doors retaining their original glazed glass panel, opening to shelved interior, atop shaped case fitted with single large drawer, above two cupboard doors with intricate carved tracery motifs, opening to reveal interior shelving, rising on molded base.

101" High, 67" Wide, 22" Deep
Great original condition with beautifully aged patina. Strong, sturdy and stable. Presents splendidly, retaining original antique character marks, including organically distressed finish, worn, faded, with scattered chippy paint losses. Nothing that detracts from the display or functionality but only adds to the sophisticated character, elegant warmth, and rich European antique charm.
