19th century French Vitrine Cabinet Bookcase Barley Twist Black Forest Carved
About the Item
Antique French Vitrine Cabinet Bookcase Barley Twist Black Forest Carved Oak.
Direct from France, a stunning antique French bookcase/cabinet, with an unusually SLENDER profile, yet very tall and majestic (7 ft) and completely covered with beautiful hand carvings!
The high “swans neck” ornately carved pediment features a carved center medallion and is flanked by large finials.
Upper cabinet has stepped out moulding above a wide carved frieze that features a dimensional center carved cartouche with carved keystone corners on either side.
Full length barley twist columns flank the large door that features upper glass framed with dome shaped carved trim. Lower door has a beautiful large panel that features hand carved musical instruments and French ribbons and foliage.
Also note there is a large drawer below the door, with a fully carved front and dimensional carved mask handle.
Quality throughout with dovetailed drawer; well built by craftsmen of the period. ORIGINAL PAPER TAG on the back!! circa1890.
Measurements: 93” ht. x 44” x 20.25”.
Height without crown, 84.5” (7 ft.). 3 adj. shelves, 38” x 12.5”.
