Extremely Rare Small Early 18th Century English Burled Yew Wood “Bureau Bookcase
About the Item
Extremely Rare Small Early 18th Century English Burled Yew Wood “Bureau Bookcase”. A single door retaining the original beveled mirror enclosing adjustable shelves and three small drawers. A single “candle slide” illuminated the desk’s work surface. The slanted front enclosed arched cubby holes and six inlaid drawers with a tooled leather desk top. Typical of this period, there are three extraordinarily crafted hidden drawers. This retains the original knobs and other brass hardware and the lustrous color and patination enhances the small proportions. Made in England Circa 1820.
