French Mid-19th Century Louis XVI Style Two-Part Vitrine with Original Finish
About the Item
A French Louis XVI style two-part painted vitrine bookcase from the mid-19th century, with canted sides, glass door and carved crest. Boasting its original painted finish, this vitrine is made in the manner of Louis XVI. The molded cornice is adorned with a delicately carved crest with beaded medallion surrounded by a tied ribbon. The upper section features a glass door with canted sides, that opens to reveal inner shelves offering great storage opportunities. The lower section showcases a central door decorated with reeded motifs, flanked with paneled canted sides. Presenting its distressed original painted finish accented with rais-de-cœur and bead-and-reel motifs, and resting on short tapered feet, this French Louis XVI style mid-19th century vitrine bookcase will bring a touch of classical elegance to any living room. The base is 19.75" D while the top is 18.5" D.
