About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this absolutely stunning restored large-scaled Victorian mahogany brake fronted bookcase. A very good looking and large Library study bookcase, this piece can easily house an entire home library, every shelf is removable and fully height adjustable meaning there are timber rails from top to bottom on each side so there is absolutely no restriction on where the shelves sit so no lost space The bookcase is very rare, usually these pieces have cupboards to the base section, not on this, its all fully glazed from top to bottom The cabinet has been extensively restored, there have been replacement glass panels fitted, timber restoration to the back of the cornice so its totally solid, the base plinth has been checked and restored, the cabinet has then been externally cleaned waxed and polished, its ready to go The bookcase splits into five pieces for ease of transport, the middle two cupboards are one piece, the side cupboards are one piece each and then you have the base plinth and top cornice are single piece. There is one key included, the locks are temperamental but do work, not that well but they work Dimensions: Height 216cm Width 313.5cm at the top cornice, 306cm at the base skirting Depth 49cm Internal shelf depth, 30.5cm on the outside sections, 35.5cm on the middle section Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
