Carved Oak Server Buffet with Decorative Putti Copper Panel

About the Item

Made of oak and finished with a medium stain, this beautiful server from the beginning of the 20th-century is a feast for the eyes! From the elaborately carved crown over the backboard down to its crescent bun feet at the base, everything about the server boasts of elegance and style. The focal point is undoubtedly found in the decorative copper panel at the center of the backboard. It is creatively embossed with an array of delightful putto (a work of art depicting chubby male children, usually naked and sometimes winged, although these are wingless) with pudgy limbs and dimpled skin, who appear to be busy at child's' play. Beneath the serving surface, which has a height of 41.75 inches, two dovetailed drawers with wooden shell escutcheons are ideal for storing flatware or small items. Bold, turned, tapered legs, adorned with carvings at the top and bottom are united by a lower tier and stand on a plinth base. This design provides an open, airy feel and the opportunity to display and store so many items.
