A Grand 18th Century French Oak Buffet Deux Corps from the Perche Region
About the Item
Transport yourself back to the luxury of the 1700s with our exquisite period Louis XV buffet deux corps. Crafted with precision and elegance, this piece hails from the picturesque Perche region of France, named after the pre-Celtic term perkwu, meaning “oak” or “big tree.” It’s no surprise that Perche is known for its vast forests, as this cabinet’s craftsmanship reflects the region’s deep-rooted connection to nature.
The upper body of this cabinet boasts an arching crown adorned with several layers of thick cavetto molding, while the doors are inset with three gracefully shaped panels featuring thick volute molding. Inside, you’ll discover three full-length and shaped shelves, providing ample storage space for your treasured possessions. The upper body gracefully rests upon the lower section, which is embellished with a quarter-round edge and conceals another full-length shelf behind doors with subtle asymmetrical arches and paneled doors with thick molding. The entire piece stands on large block feet in the back and elegantly scrolled cabriole feet in the front, completing its stately appearance. Elevate your living space with this timeless and highly shaped cabinet, a true masterpiece that offers both functionality and unparalleled beauty.
