Antique Mahogany Revolving Bookcase

About the Item

Antique mahogany book mill with subtle marquetry. The book mill has a beautiful weathered patina with signs of wear. It is a very solid book mill with a cast iron base. Made around 1900 by the firm Maple & Co.Size: 49cm x 49cm x H 86 cmThe maker Maple & Co was by the end of the Victorian period (ca. 1880) the most important manufacturer of quality furniture in the world. The firm has furnished, among other things, the winter palace of Tsar Nicholas, the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, all major English embassies around the world, countless country houses and large hotels. Everyone important by the end of the 19th century had their furniture made by Maple & Co. The quality and craftsmanship was unprecedented and that can still be seen very clearly today.
