Arupemba Cabinet

About the Item

The sinuous interlace is contained by the rectangular frame. Reveals in the movement of lines the poetry of design that rests in the history and memory of Brazilian social formation. The Arupemba Cabinet exalts the heritage of indigenous culture that remains alive in the minutiae of knowledge and practices that span generations. Inspiration takes arupemba - vegetable fiber sieve - as an element that nourishes the creative process. The circular artifact present in the preparation of national gastronomy, especially in the Northeast, is re-signified in the piece of furniture that combines contemporaneity, symbolic value and a bond of belonging. The rigid and hollow structure, in the lightness of aluminum, curves with the repeated turns that condense optical effect in the game of full and empty. The coming and going embraced by the handmade coating of the nautical rope results in the unique texture. The furniture - which has versatility in use and function - materializes identity with the exclusive Brazilian flavor. Available in different colors Dimensions: 120 cm wide x 50 cm deep x 195 cm high Weight: 40 kg.

  • Arupemba Armchair
    By Sergio Matos
    Located in Campina Grande, Paraiba
The design crosses timeline and rescues ancestry, clippings of history and emotional ties. From the indigenous cuisine of Brazil Cologne to nowadays, the “arupemba” – strainer made of carnaúba or buriti straw – lends its aesthetics and name to the swing chair idealized by the designer from Mato Grosso Sérgio Matos. The simplicity of the circular artifact used by natives to sift corn and cassava flour is extolled by the symbolic value and flavor of the memory that puts the June festival traditions from Northeast. The flexibility of vegetal fiber gives way to the rigidity of forged steel, typical of the ancient gates...
