'Checkometry' Cabinet. Metal inlaid with gesso.

About the Item

A mid to late Twentieth Century cabinet that has been reconditioned and reimagined by designer and maker Kate Noakes. Kate uses a unique process that she has developed of cutting her original designs in sheet metal that are applied onto existing furniture and then inlaid with gesso. A form of modern marquetry that creates a durable, functional and dynamic veneer that transforms the furniture back to a new and vibrant life. The 'Shards' design works well on any shape of furniture - each time it is used the scale of the design is adapted to suit the dimensions of the piece. The colour of the gesso can be customised. Due to the nature of Kate’s work this chest of drawers is an example of past work, and is a guide of what can be commissioned. This design can be applied to any style of furniture. Kate will liaise with you to source a piece that suits your requirements, any of her designs can then be applied. This piece is in two sections.
